About Us

At Trinity Episcopal Church, we serve Christ by welcoming His children in all their diversity.  We are a small, older congregation who worship in the smallest and oldest church building in Albany. Built by the Methodists in 1889, it was purchased by the local Episcopalians in 1913 and moved to its present location in 1954.  It is the most photographed church in Albany and has two historical markers, one for the church and one for the site upon which it sits.  There are several historic and unique items inside the church, including: a hand carved Pendant Cross placed above the altar that was carved in 1958 by the daughter of a former member; two stained glass windows on opposites sides of the altar that were made in London in 1930 for a church near York, England that was later deconsecrated; a 19th century English oak pulpit and tutor prayer stall; two glass paneled doors from an old English pub separating the vestibule from the nave; a Pascal candle stand hand carved by a former deacon in 2010; and a gothic revival style tracker pipe organ made in 1859 for St. John’s Episcopal Church in Oneida, New York.  We were established as a “frontier church” and remain true to the values of personal independence and adaptability, while working cooperatively with all our neighbors and celebrating each time we gather as a community.

About Albany Texas

The community of Albany, Texas is friendly but traditional and conservative, preferring to take care of itself rather than relying on outside agencies. As such, it is generous to those in need and supportive of local social services.  It is also a community that takes great pride in celebrating its history as evidenced by its annual “Fort Griffin Fandangle,” held each June.

The nearby Fort Griffin State Historical Site is a great place to learn more of local history.   Local history is further preserved and modernized at The Old Jail Art Center, a great place to spend some time in our community.

There is a small but well preserved downtown area that includes: the restored Aztec Theater; a still active Pharmacy/Soda Fountain; a privately owned classic car museum;  and a number of boutique shops.  For more information about these attractions and others, visit our local Chamber of Commerce webpage
